There are a few things to consider in successfully becoming a registered breeder with a Breeding Organisation, Club or Association. Follow the quiz below (or read on) to find out what you may need, or what you may be missing to successfully acquire a breeder registration number:
Am I ready to become an ADBC registered breeder?
A checklist of the necessities of becoming a successful breeder:
- Space for a nursing zone
- Space for animals to be active
- Isolation zone to seperate when required
- Understanding of a puppy's/ kitten's social needs
- Must be an Australian Resident
- Must hold a valid form of photo identification
- Must provide photos of establishment
- Can afford to pay annual fee
- Can afford to have livestock receive first vaccination and microchipping before they leave you
- Must be able to fill out the registration form or have someone help you
- Not seeking pedigree certification (ADBC is not for pedigree breeders)
- Have a printed or electronic copy of your State relevant Code of Ethics/ Practice
